fleeces weigh between two & three pounds.
On our return, we stopped at the farm of Baron Von Eberstein, formerly an Officer in the English Service.
His flock consists of 750 Sheep (from 250 to 300 of them Ewes) the whole under the charge of a single Shepherd, who assured us, the Ewes reared their full complement of Lambs, & that the fleeces weigh 3½ lbs, both which assertions, from the appearance of the Sheep, I consider to be equally unentitled to credit.
They receive the same allowance of fodder as at Mr Frege's. A few lambs are dropped, which look well, and the Mothers seem to have sufficient Milk. This Establishment is in a slovenly State. The Shepherd has evidently too much to do.
Both the flocks I have seen today, are, decidedly, of mixed races.
