And this is the night season just now. They come after the Harwich Submarine depot. More and more work has fallen on one. I do hope I won't knock up for I really revel in these labours – and everybody is kind to me. Robert so far is well. He has some close calls a few weeks ago – since then "Nothing much has transpired" !! – I believe more than ever in the ultimate victory of the [indecipherable] but I know were a long way off licking them yet – but if we stick at it – and stick together Germany will crack up – but at what cost – public and private – For us dear chap the future is now quite grey and forbodding – but as you said to Keith – Carry on – and God bless you.

I suppose now I cannot expect further leave and that Ill be back by Xmas – but the people here are good enough to do all they can to get me to stay on where I am -
