My dear Ferguson.

I sent the letter which arrived yesterday to your other son. – I am so vy sorry for you . – My wife is in touch with him through young Mant & we hope to see him when he comes here. – He is now at Chisholm Camp in [indecipherable] & is going when he comes to London for a quite good hotel in Russel Square.

Please accept for your wife & yourself our very real sympathy. It is hard that vicarious sacrifice should be the loss of life. I know nothing can give you real comfort: but perhaps in some way the sympathy of others helps.
