in the 2nd Battn. and went with it to France.

On account of my having been through the Staff College at Camberley I was sent for to come up to Salisbury from Weymouth for instructional work. It was rather hard luck as it was just my turn to go away to rejoin my unit. Anyhow I came up here and became training adjutant of this battn. they told me I would be kept here on training work for a long time so I asked to be paraded before the Brigadier in order to request him to let me go to France.

The Brigadier refused me so I had to retire with his promise that he would release me later.

The other day I went across to France with a draft of troops and when I got to our destination got fixed
