Robert is so far all right – but Lord what fears we have for his safety – His mother has been 14 days in bed with various ills – but all dominated by her nerves I v well can see – I am simply slaving at my work. My two fine able juniors have been taken away overseas and I'm battling along with [indecipherable] help – I did 5 operations yesterday and 5 today – and the wards, and all sorts of things that have personally fallen on my shoulders. That god I never felt so keen on my job as Ive done all this year. We each have got one son left at risk – What makes it so hard is that these children are honestly of the best brand of offspring. We don't "need to blush for our beloved anyway" - Yrs always
