My Dear Judge,
Following upon my previous letter, it will interest and perhaps gratify you to know that I have located Dr. Brissenden and have offered his special employment on my personal staff in a capacity which ought to be congenial to him. As he had had little previous military training, it is out of the question for the time being to promote him to a commission, nor does he appear to desire that course; but the would that he will have to do will be of a semi-legal, semi-administrative character largely in connection with the administration of Military law, so that he should without doubt prove very useful, and, as you are aware, it is an element of sound organisation that every man should be employed in the capacity for which he is most suited.
