My Dear Judge
In a letter from France from my eldest son which we received yesterday is the following "Poor Ferguson had very bad luck getting through the night of the big brolga without a scratch and then getting caught by an odd shell, he is a big loss to the Regiment".
This simple sentence shows how valuable he was in the opinion of his fellow officers and how they regard his loss. I know you would like to hear of such a tribute to his memory.
