The men's mess is good here and there are hot and cold showers. I have had no leave yet and don't expect any so that I shall not see London. I am not very keen on it but would have like to have seen Beecham's Company play Boris Godounov [Godunov] and Madame Butterfly. I am told that with 4 days leave you can never see anything good in London as tickets must be taken long before the performance.
My address is still AIF on active service, as we expect to complete training in 8 weeks, the cyclists probably coming on a little later.
Pozieres Wood cost Australians 5000 killed 23000 casualties, the 3rd Bn not having a man to answer the roll, and the 30th badly cut up. Ritchie will be glad to hear of my luck, as he always said I should never get to the front.
