Some of the ladies & officers have been picnicing, others & the Diggers playing cricket, quoits, & strolling about the bush. My time has been spent in reading, smoking, playing cards & a gentle walk with the O.C. [Officer Commanding], or some other officer.

We all returned the ship by dinner time the boat was sweet & clean after her thorough clean up.

We arrived alongside the New Pier Port Melbourne where the Govenor General & Lady Munro Ferguson came on board. I was the first officer to be introduced, they shook hands & chatted for a few minutes then I handed them over to
