Sunday 27th Oct[ober 1918]
Cold strong wind with showers – sea very rough & ship rolling a good deal, if we had not had the fiddles on the table yesterday & today most of the meals would have been in our laps.  Communion & Church Services as usual – Collection as usual for English Sailors, Widows & Orphans – C[hurch] of E[ngland] £2-2-3, R[oman] C[atholic] 13/-. We are doing on an average 330 miles in 24 hours so today at 5 pm we shall be 1650 miles from Durban & about 2200 miles from Freemantle which we hope to reach D.V. [Dep Volonte 'God willing'] by 5 Novr.  It is hard to say how long we shall be delayed there but I believe only a few hours.  Col[onel] Martin said
