The smell of the bush & burning wood is quite refreshing after nearly 9 weeks afloat, the weather is warm & fine (about 89º in the shade) but the beastly blow flies are to friendly – so far no mosquitos, but the ring tailed opossum got very friendly with the men, they went into their tents & crawled over the men, some were grabbed & pulled in bed but the little beggars bite the fellows on the fingers so they soon got free again. I suppose you saw by the papers that a ship from South Africa
