Thursday 19th Sept 1918
Got up at 6.30 am fine weather but a bit too fresh for my liking – when we Zig Zagged in one direction all this morning it landed us for a few minutes side on to the waves so we got a lovely roll.  The wind is fairly strong still.  We are travelling only at about 8½ Knots per hour so far as we have one slow old Tank boat in the Convoy but as soon as we break away from this crowd which will be most likely Friday or Saturday we shall increase our speed up to 12½ or 13 Knots.  We are evidently going via the Cape of Good Hope. At 2 pm 7 of our convoy & four T.B.D's [Torpedo Boat Destroyer] bore off
