the Ships Coy [Company] in London & asked them to pay her so much per week until the £115 was exhausted.  Do hope the poor woman got some before the arrival of her other child.

Monday 4/11/18
One day nearer the end of this long journey.  I suppose in our round about way getting away from Submarines & possible Raiders we shall have travelled about 16,000 miles by time we disembark.

The weather is fine but cold the sea has a good swell on. The Western Australians will D.V. [Deo Volonte 'God willing'] land on Wednesday morning then we cut across the Great Australian Bight to Melbourne where I get off – hope the Bight behaves itself for once it is generally very rough across that part.
