[indecipherable],and it formed no part of his duty to offer observations on the manners and customs of the native blacks, but still such might have been done with advantage to the public and credit to himself. The facts is that after all Mr Robinson had a desire to shine more as a man of words than of action which was a very material error and on his part, and frequently gave rise to something of the ludicrous.

In one of his dispatches to the Government from Flinders's island when speaking about a Black woman who was with child he stated that "she is enciente" a word evidently [indecipherable] belonging to Mr Robinson's vocabulary and not very applicable.
He further [indecipherable] says one of his the same despatches that the names of the natives were rather vulgar, and that he had bestowed others on them.
