Since concluding my narrative of the Aborigines of Van Dieman's Land, I have seen late Port Phillip paper and there is an account given of an affair with the Blacks which I will insert at full length.

In my narrative I purposely abstained from offering any remarks on that nondescript appointment of Protector General of the Aborigines of various countries in the South Pacific Ocean. If the intention was to nominate Mr G. A. Robinson to Protector General with a salary of £500 as a reward of former services I should find little fault with the creation of such a sinecure, but four sub-protectors are placed on the staff. I also observe that a protector has been appointed at New Zealand, and I believe in South Australia and Western Australia. I, for one, must confess, that I am
