recollect what tribe it was - I think it was what is called a tame mob, a mob of half civilized Blacks, such as have had much intercourse with white men. From certain circumstances I felt assured at the time, and it was the general opinion, that the mob consisted of the Blacks who were in the habit of visiting Hobarton, and getting provisions and other things there. The same mob killed, sometime afterward, a man named Barnber in Michael Howe's marsh. William Hall who lately lived in Hobarton can relate the particulars of Barnber's death.

The Blacks now infesting the country are composed of different tribes; at least it is so asserted, and I believe it to be true.

I have never known of any wanton Act of hostility committed by the Whites against the Blacks. I have known many kind things done to the Blacks by the Whites, but I believe the surest way to get killed by the Blacks is to do them acts of kindness.
