The principal leaders were Mr Batman with 10 or 12 men in the Campbell Town District mostly under the Ben Lomond. Mr Gilbert Robertson with 10 or 12 men, chiefly in the Richmond District, and Mr Jorgen Jorgenson with 4 parties in the Oatlands District but the armed bands were were not confined to and several other smaller bands were also called out, but their operations of the parties were not confined to particular Districts for it was expedient, when they came on the tracks of the the Blacks to pursue them to their haunts, or until they were lost sight of.
