of the times might have plunged into difficulties with their families been if it has [indecipherable] a asylum for other free persons, - who would otherwise have had to be provided for by the English parishes, or have been thrown back on the British population as paupers - if the industry and wants of the Colony have opened a new market for the Consumption of the homemanufacturers, the employment of Shipping, and the engagement of a great number of mariners. Thereby returning into the bosom of the mother country the greater part of the money conveyed hither, with all the advantages of that wholesome circulation without which wealth is useless - I say if these be the advantages tha Britain derives from one of her most profitable and valuable colonies, then it would also be worth her while to assist her in repelling the aggressions of her black enemies as to [indecipherable] her internal and external prosperity industry and prosperity from which the mother country would acquire additional strength, and an increase of her own prosperity. -
Had the Colonial press rendered this serviced the Service to the parent state and the Colony which they might have done, and ought honestly to have done, Emigrants would have resorted to this Island in far greater numbers than have latterly been the case, but as they have the press have acted, the people at home are
