"King George" was on his death bed, the commandant asked him if he should give him anything, a little tea, sugar etc. The poor fellow shook his head only, signifying that such relief was no longer of any use. Upon this the commandant departed, leaving him with Mr Dove, who offered up a prayer for the dying man. Immediately after this had ended, the poor man stretched out his hand, squeezed that of this spiritual friend, and instantly expired.
 
There are now on the island 22 men, 23 women and 13 children. and lately one birth.  

Two little fellows name "Joey Tamar" & Teddy Flinders, had been placed in the Orphan School at New Town; they could, however, never be kept in; they were always going off into the bush, so that the authorities were at last obliged to send them to Flinder's  island.

It has was not been known that any of them has any money. On a recent occasion when one was of the officers was about to leave the settlement for head quarters, it was noticed that one of the natives was for a day or two loitering about this gentleman's quarters. At last he was told that he must go away, upon which he said that he wanted the man's son. It appears that
