Metrosideros capitata has a trilocular capsule; but in pilosa it is only bilocular.
I am afraid that the capitata Stigma, which Dr Smith relies so much upon in characterizing Leptospermum, must soon be discarded. May not the woody capsule be worthy of notice.
Whether these ambiguous plants will constitute a new genera, or whether they will prove to be intermediate links between the old ones must be left for future observation.
