ascend the stem, and undulated, slightly decurrent Stems simple, cylindrical, nakedish of leaves, a little rough with very short hairs; floret leaves 2 or 3, egg-spear shaped, sitting, sometimes situated so close to the flowers as to appear to be the calyx, but as such they cannot be admitted, for they arise from one base. Flowers of a good scent.  When full grown in a globular head consisting of a great number of bundles, placed on short pedicles, each bundle containing from 6 to 8 florets. Husks of the partial calyx membranaceous at the edge.
