Mimosa  
Grew close by a rill of water, at Carduning, Carserning, both of which names it is called by the natives.  I have sent you specimens of it by the Glatton.  The label will express its place of growth.

Grows to a tallish slender erect tree.  Branches, the younger part covered with a green-blackish bark, with slight obscure decurrent lines, Leaves alternate, doubly winged, leaf-stalks & midribs with tumid bunches at the base, furrowed on the upper side; wings opposite, leafits alternate & opposite, from 12 to 24 pair, oblique-strap shaped, nearly sessile, midrib dividing it into 2 unequal parts.  Calyx very small, with 4 lobes.  Blossom straw color, of 5 segments.  Stamens numerous, light yellow.  Pist Germen smooth, Style zigzag, Wings from 3 to 5 pair, opposite & alternate, ending without an odd one: Leafits very thin, rounded at the base on the lower side.

Style hair-like, zigzag, Summit simple.
