a reddish copper color. Wings yellow, tinged with a reddish copper color towards the base, Keel of a deep claret color. Germen with about 6 seeds.

In the older plants the leaves are much smaller, and the lower part of the stem cylindrical. I saw an instance of a few leaves springing out of the axilla of others. It is remarkable in the wings being so much smaller in the proportion to the other parts.  In the younger plants the flowers frequently point one way. A beautiful shrub, flowering in April & May - Not a Platylobium.
