awakened at 7am the ship was anchored. Of course there was a great deal of excitement aboard, & everybody was anxious to get ashore. At about 8.30am together with the Skipper & Purser I went ashore in the launch that was sent for the use of the ship to Port Melbourne. Here we entrained for the City. Arriving there half an hour later I left the others and went to the Navy Office in Lonsdale Street. I interviewed the Fleet Wireless officer who informed me that he had received a communication from the PMG's Department that my leave had expired
