was beautiful, the moon shining brightly, sky clear, & the following sea helping us along so much that she was doing something like 14 knots. Leaving the 2nd unconvincing & unconvinced I turned in and slept till the 4th called me for my morning watch. After breakfast the Purser found he had a job which he wanted me to do for him, so all the morning I was in his office, and commenced a job which will take a few days to finish. At 4pm when my afternoon watch was finished, he & I took the punching ball down aft, and erected it.
