there alone when the first mate came up. He had learned from one of the others that Farrell was writing up reports for the newspapers & started talking about his being shot in the neck. Farrell had already mentioned about his being accidently shot when we were one day out from Colombo, but the mate, out for advertisement wanted him to put in, as a joke so he said, that he came by his injuries while we were lying off Gallipoli. However Farrell was not having any of that so the mate left disconsolate. When we were well in Hobsons Bay I went to bunk.
