Wednesday 25th August 1915. A very severe wind and rain storm struck the ship at 2am and in many places found its way through cracks into cabins. Nearly all hands were awakened by the row made by the rain, but I blissfully slept on, though the Purser who had been swamped out of his bunk, came into the cabin and closed the port which had been wide open.
