we last lost sight of the West Australian coast & have seen no Australian coast till today. At 5.30pm Cape Otway was abeam and signalled to, giving our name & number. The Victorian coast is now well in view. At 10pm the lights at Port Phillip Heads could be seen and at 11pm the pilot boat was alongside. The pilot brought the latest newspapers with him. These were eagerly pounced upon by a couple of us who had nothing better to do. The Purser was busy in his cabin writing out reports of the trip for the newspapers. He & I were
