Mr. H. H. Macarthur wrote to me a Letter - in which were the following paragraphs - dated Vineyard, 16th March, 1838:- 

"There are other points between Leslie and yourself, on which I can give no opinion; but this I am confident to declare, that Pat's judgement and discretion will give your Stock a very different character in a very few Seasons, and you will then see how much you have lost in past years."  -  "He is active, intelligent, and persevering, and must succeed." - "I believe your shipment of Wool this Season will convince you that a change for the better has already come over your Flocks."
