[In pencil]  No 117a 30.7.15

Extract from my letter to Mr. Riley of 30th July, 1815, by M Campbell.

I now come to a Subject which tho' the last in my letter, is far from the least in my estimation; and I entreat you to lay it to your heart, & to act in conformity with my wishes, & in unison with my Sentiments of what is nothing more than just, & due from me on the occasion. I have learnt with great regret & no small surprise, that Oxley has been heard to say he had "the exclusive right of Belmont for a year or more." This is what I never would sanction, because I cannot but be aware it would inconvenience, & might possibly injure, my worthy & excellent friend
