Walter Stephenson Davidson, a London merchant, and close friend of the Macarthur family, came to New South Wales in 1805 with Capt. Macarthur. He returned to England in 1809, and was in business in China, 1815-1822. He had some property at Menangle and later was in partnership with Richard Jones as sheep owner at Colleroy Station, near Merriwa. The latter estate he sold to Messrs. Clive and Hamilton in 1840.

N.B. His 2nd Xn name was written Stephenson in Bligh's Proclamation in a copy of Valuation of Colleroy, 18 May 1840, in [this?] volume it is written Stevenson. A snuff box which belonged to him and is now in the possession of a grand-daughter, used the latter one. M. Flower, 30.1.53
