(The amount for 1837 being in Messrs R. Jones & Co's books) in order to shew you how the amount accumulated; Since Mr Davidson duly honored his nephew's Drafts during the years 1838 & 39 and how the payments amounting to £6200 made by me for the Sheep purchased by "Patrick Leslie & Company – of the Australian Agricultural Company, were met by specific drafts drawn upon Mr Davidson on a/c of William Leslie Esq. of Warthill:– and other particulars. 

After this interview I shall still feel obliged by your giving me your opinion as to the liability in point of honor under which Mr Davidson stands – to repay to me my advances – as well as your recollection of the fact that I abandoned my legal remedy against Mr Davidson's property before the transfer & delivery to Mr Hamilton in Consequence of your assurance & that of Mr Jones that you considered me safe under the guarantee –
