Camden 6th November 1844.
My dear Sir,
With reference to the transactions between Mr. Davidson Mr. Leslie & yourself respecting which, in your letter of the 28th ultimo, you request my opinion I beg to say that after very careful consideration of the circumstances, so far as they come within my Knowledge, – I can see nothing that should in any way bind Mr. Davidson to pay the Bills for £4000 which you received from Mr. Leslie in July 1840.
The extract from Mr. Davidson's letter of the 30th September 1839 appears to me only to guarantee the payments of Bills for such Balance as should be found due to Mr Leslie, after examination by Mr. Davidson and
Stuart A Donaldson Esq
