course of time, to crown his assiduity and exertions. – John speaks with rapture of his late continental trip, and it is quite clear that he has derived great benefit from it – When I left town a fortnight ago, he was in the enjoyment of blooming health, & his spirits delightfully buoyant, which will serve to carry him through the approaching Winter Campaign with spirit & success. – I know that he sends you voluminous details by every good opportunity, and often have I pictured to myself the delight of his beloved Mother and Sisters on the receipt of his various letters, in which you and my young friends James and William will, I well know, most heartily participate. Happy Parents! to possess so superior a Son, and one whose heart is as warm towards them, as the day on which he quitted his native Land! –
