My dear Sir,

I am sorry to inform you that it is quite out of our power to liquidate any portion of the interest now due on our debt of £12500 unless we can succeed in obtaining payment from Mr Pringle on one half the amount of his 2 White's Bills say £750 of which I fear there is little chance at this time. Our inability to meet the interest arises from various causes, in the first place the abstraction from our own resources of more than £2000 for the Ravensworth Estate on giving over that property to the Bank.
