Dear Sir
I am sorry to find that a blunder was made in not sending the two Ayrshires to London by sea, as had been previously agreed upon. In this mistake, according to the letters in Messrs. D.L. & Co.s office, which I have attentively perused read Mr. McAdam seems to have responsibility. They wrote to him, as you had directed them to do, stating when the ship was to sail, & there was ample time to have sent them by sea, had their letter been attended to.
The difference in the expense we are put to allowing for the deduction made by the Railway Co. of £6, is at least £10 for carriage & keep: for wh. we have had to pay £10.10/- carriage £3.2.3 keep total £13.12.3, which the amt. for [indecipherable] wd. not, as I am informed have expended £3 at the outside for both freight & keep &c. The freight to Sydney is very heavy £55 a head & the extra £10 can be ill afforded. Under these circumstances the price
