"Una"
Rabaul,
2nd January 1915.

Sir;
I have the honour to submit that I have examined the enclosed accounts of Komine, which appear to be quite correct.

Sheet 1, which is all Wireless Gear, should be checked by Engineer-Lieut. Cresswell, R.A.N., at present at Navy Office, Melbourne.

Taking the items on Sheet 2 in order, they are as follows :-
1.   "Electing Torpedo, etc.   This work was ordered by Commander Cumberlege, H.M.A.S "Warrego". It consists in fitting Dropping Gear to two Motor Launches M.1 and M.2 for the defence of the Port in the absence of the  Fleet.   The two  last details of this (4 mast bands and wire rope) were for Wireless Gear.   The 4 mast   bands were ordered by "Fantome" for her top masts, the order being given by Mr. Powles, Assistant Harbour-master, for delivery to Komine.   The wire rope was for the Shore Wireless Station and should be checked by the Fleet Wireless Officer.

2.   "Repairs to "Nusa":   These were carried out by Komine.   "Nusa" at that time was employed on patrol duties outside the harbour.

3.   "Small wireless mast"   This was ordered by the Fleet Wireless Officer and should be checked by him.

The bill on Sheet 3 is for the  use of Komine's Launch "Banzar".   This boat was taken on the arrival of the Fleet and constantly used for  general Naval purposes, there being a shortage of German Motor Boats owing to all their engines being out of action.   As King's Harbour Master I made constant use of her and she, in addition, did all the towage and carrying of wireless gear for the Shore Wireless Station erected by Fleet Wireless Officer.

I have the honor to be,
Sir,
Your obedient Servant,
(Sgd.) - Jackson,
Lt. Commander R.N.

The Administrator,
