Melbourne,
19th August, 1914.

Dear Sir,
                                                                             re Island of Nauru.
Referring to conversation between yourself, Mr. John Gorton, and myself last week, information is enclosed herewith, as follows, viz.:-
a.   Report written by a German Director of the Pacific Phosphate Company Ltd. for a German paper.
b.   Memorandum of general information.
c.   Terms of concession granted by German Government for the working of phosphate deposits on the Island of Angaur in the Pellew Group.

2.   The Australian Office of the Pacific Phosphate Company Ltd., is at A.M.P. Buildings, Collins Street, Melbourne, but I fancy they are not keen on the Island coming under Australian rule, and it may, possibly, be unwise to say anything to them beforehand.

3.   The writer lived on Ocean Island as Private Secretary to the Pacific Phosphate Company Ltd. for nearly six years, and visited Nauru - 163 miles away - on various occasions.
Any further information will be gladly given.

Yours faithfully,
(Sgd.) Leslie W. Tulloch.

H.S.W. Lawson, Esq.,
Minister of Lands,
Melbourne.
