Memorandum to  
The Secretary,
Department of Defence,
Melbourne.

I am to inform you that, in view of an intimation which has been received by the Engineer for Radiotelegraphy from the Naval Board to the effect that the Wilhelmshaven wireless station is now open for the transaction of public business, the following instructions in the matter have been sent to the Deputy Postmasters General in the several States, viz:-

Wireless Station, Wilhelmshave, New Guinea, open for Public business via Port Moresby, charges 3d. per word radio charge plus ordinary land line charges and deliver charges at Wilhelmshaven if any, latter to be collected from addressee.   Radio charge allocated as follows - 1d. Thursday Island, 1d. Port Moresby and 1d. Wilhelmshaven.   Service limited at present and subject to delays; only plain English will be accepted but Department will endeavour to dispose of Traffic as expeditiously as possible.

2.   I shall be glad if you would kindly  confirm the communication received from the Naval Board by the Engineer for Radiotelegraphy also the rates referred to above, so far as Wilhelmshaven is concerned.

3.   It is proposed to make arrangements to debit your Department monthly by means of Journal entry with the charges due to this Department on the messages from Wilhelmshaven, viz. 2d. per word wireless charge plus ordinary
