With reference to the troops on the Kanowna and Berrima, as the supplies provided by the Military Department are preserved or tinned, and fresh food is always preferable, could the Navy Board be asked to give fresh supplies  of meat to the troops whenever it is convenient to do so.   Of course this only possible while a vessel with cool storage is present at the place of issue, there being no facilities for storage ashore.
