Sydney, 2 January 1844

My dear Macarthur,

I have received your letter enclosing the instructions from W. S. Davidson's Solicitor, & have followed them so far as to retain Foster & Broadhurst. I find from Mr. Norton that no papers have yet reached him from the other side. Of course nothing more can be done by us until these, & our own further instructions arrive, – but I have written to Mr. Walters (as you appeared to wish it) – acknowledging his communication through you, & expressing our readiness to act.

I am grieved to hear of the result of

James Macarthur E.
Camden.
