I beg to enclose herewith an account of monies received and expended by me from 20th Octr to 20th Novr, likewise a statement of Rents received during the same period. We have had 4 abandonments of farms Viz
and I expect more will follow if the present weather continues. I believe there are not more than a dozen Tenants on the Estate who will get a crop at all, most of them having let their Cattle eat what little there was to keep them alive if possible, should we get rain now very few tenants would be able to get in much maize their cattle are so weak, with such a prospect before them Sir William I shall be glad to receive some instructions as to how I am to act with regard to a good many of them who cannot possibly pay their rents.
Hoping yourself, Mr James and the Ladies are well,
I am Sir William your very obedient Servt
Thos Dawson
