all night, not heavy but a nice soaking rain, it is fair now (11 O'clock) but sufficient has already fallen to be of incalculable benefit to this part of the Country, one can already perceive its good effects in the grass and Lucerne it could not have come much better for our potatoes of which we have Two acres over ground. Most of our maize land is ready, and I intend to plant to-morrow should the weather take up now which I am afraid it is going to do. I think I mentioned in my letter by the last mail Sir William, that as the season had not been suitable for sowing down with Lucerne the 17 acre maize field, it was my intention to plant there the early yellow maize, and sow the Lucerne seed in the Autumn, I have the
