Cattle are also much thinner than usual at this time of the year.
I am offered 7½ d. pr pound for the whole of the bacon, being a splendid lot I believe it to be well worth 8d. and shall hold it for that price, we must have more than Three Tons for sale - quantity sold 805 lbs.
Maize is advancing in price it is now worth here 5s/6d pr bushel of 60 lbs. Enclosed is a memo of the quantity sold, it is my intention to hold the remainder, believing it will be much higher, our consumption is about 14 Bushels weekly, more than I like, but we are obliged to give the working horses some. The large white maize Sir William, yielded quite one hundred bushels to the acre, we had 253½ baskets, each basket giving 80 lbs of shelled maize, which at 56 lbs to the Bushel (its usual weight) gives
