Report of Examination of Bugler Hardmann D Coy

Bugler Hardmann D Coy is prepared to swear on oath to the following statements -
After A Coy had fallen in to march off - someone came back - entered the wine store & came out with his shirt bulging - Bugler Hardmann called him back & said "I would not take anything down as I believe the men are being searched as they go into town" - but he did not take much notice.
Exactly who this was it is impossible to swear to but as he fell out of his own account it looks as tho' he was a Non-Com.
The first squad of men of A Coy met on the march up was posted at a House.  A Coy's Col-Sgt was present here with these men & nearly all the men were smoking Cigars.
When passing Govt House before being dismissed by Sgt Smith - a man of A Coy whose name can be sworn to if necessary called

[Signed in margin]  J P Hardmann
