The report marked exhibit C initialled by the President has been read over to Col. Sgt. Mack and admitted by him to be the truth. [See page 124]

Can you swear that the men of your coy did not take away any loot or drink from Gov. House.  No. I cannot swear that, but I can swear that the men of my party did not take anything.  I was in charge of No. 3 section.
You entered Gov. House yourself.  Yes I had a look round.  There was a door open and I closed the door.  There was nothing broken or smashed up inside the House.
Where were one and two section when you were posted.  No. 1 section was under Sgt. Shepherd, about 2½ to 3 miles from Gov. House
Are you prepared to swear that no men from A. Coy touched drink or loot from Gov. House while your men were on Guard.  Yes I am. That was from 12 noon Sunday till 9.30 that evening.
Do you know of any men of A Coy. who got loot or drink at Gov. House ( No I do not know of any.

Do you remember Major Beardsmore coming up to Lieut. Bruces picket. Yes about 11.40.
What condition was Major Beardsmore in.  He was alright.  He was not under the influence of drink.
Did you notice anything extraordinary in my behaviour.  No there was nothing.  He appeared just the same as he is now.
You saw Major Beardsmore later on.  Yes he was in the same condition  Perfectly sober.
