Called at Ocean Island took on board about 40 British employees of the pacific Phosphate Co who had been deported from Nauru on the by the Germans on the outbreak of War returned them to Nauru on 6th Nov hoisted the British flag took over the Administration posted a Garrison and took the whole of the Germans, about 30 in number, prisoners and placed them on board the Messina - & arrived back at Rabaul on 12th Nov and the Messina left on the following day with the prisoners and a Guard direct for Sydney
It will therefore be seen that I simply used the vessel in accordance with my instructions in the shortest possible time
