a path down the mountain side to carry wounded to the boats and then to the Hospital ship.
Aeroplanes located the battery that did the damage yesterday and the gunboats silenced it.
Our forward attack driven back in centre. Men sent forward to reinforce. Made a charge but the beggars cleared when they saw the bayonets. Gave us two hours of shrapnel. Dozens of the boys wounded. Took till midnight taking them to the beach. From there it was fairly quiet till morning.
27th April
Murderous fire with Shrapnel on us all morning. Turks using the uniforms of our dead and using explosive bullets. Not so much damage done to us this morning
