The Country would be good for fruit growing instead of fighting. Our position is now heavily entrenched. Only one or two causalities during the day. Just at dusk the Battleships were giving the narrows a heavy bombardment. Guns going all night. Heavy firing in our trenches all night. Turks must be missing ground in front of us. Can hear their picks going underground all day long. Turks snipers are not so bad now. They cannot lift their heads without getting a bullet & we are almost the same in the trenches.

Things very quiet during the morning. In afternoon Turks 14 inch guns from Tahiti port shelled our trenches. One dropped in the trench and buried two
