17th May
Things very quiet all through the day. Our Artillery put one of their guns out of action (which was buried in a cave) our casulaties for the day was very light nearly all being wounded by snipers. Nearly passed in my number by being missed being hit by case of a shell by about 2 feet. Close shave.
18th May
Things very quiet during the morning, position still unchanged. Schrapnel from our artillery during great during the afternoon. Rifle fire & bomb throwing continued all night but very little damage was done.
